A high achieving entrepreneur, business coach and author, Stewart is the former main board director of a £100 million, multi-national, multi-site, family owned building materials company. It is there that he practised the knowledge and skills to transform businesses into highly profitable companies that lead their markets.
Stewart is an inspiring coach, mentor and masterclass speaker, and has worked with hundreds of businesses across all sectors and sizes, helping senior managers to develop their leadership skills and implement strategies for growth.
Appointed as a Visiting Fellow to the University of Gloucestershire in 2016, Stewart’s deep understanding of how business owners become leaders led him to author the internationally acclaimed Leading small business: Business growth through leadership development (Edward Elgar, 2015). Contributing to this specialist area of study, Stewart has been published in more than 10 books and journals.
Stewart takes three masterclasses on the Leading MBA programme which will help you to contextualise your learning as a leader in your business.
In the first of my masterclasses, I’ll focus on how leaders learn to lead, exploring with you the concepts of learning, knowledge and reflection. Having worked closely with so many business owners, directors and senior managers over the years, it’s very clear that leadership is learnt every day within your activities and responsibilities as a leader. Yet because it is everyday life, you often don’t notice what’s contributed to you becoming the leader you are. In this masterclass you’ll be encouraged to increase your self-awareness as you learn to improve your leadership.
Towards the end of the first year, my second masterclass will address how to lead change while engaging and taking people with you. I will help you to see how to bring together the corporate view from the top team of directors, with the business view among senior managers and at other levels, in order to attain consistency throughout the organisation. In this session, we will tie together a number of the key themes from your first year of learning, to maximise its effectiveness.
